In looking for past class actions against AUM I found the below on the Carlton Fields list of cases that they were involved in.
Using the case number I spent $12 to order the case and when it arrived it turned out to be a different case and not the one about the class action suit. I then contacted Mr Ianno who was the lawyer for the cited case and we exchanged 7 emails with him wanting to know why I was interested. He never did provide me with the correct case number but did give a self serving comment on why the case was dropped/settled. I suspect that they just threw some $ at the plaintiff and that shut Maim up.
The non-reply to my inquiry for the case number only makes me more interested in getting the info and I have an inquiry in with the Broward court asking for the correct case number. Something went on and I want to find out what it was.

I have heard a rumor of a class action case involving renters at the Stone Harbor apartment complex in Panama City Bch, FL. Efforts to find out details have not been fruitful. The case has not (yet) been filed in the county court and none shows in checking the Federal cases on PACER. It may be that the info was not correct and while there is grumbling on the high water bills that is all it is.
The initial info was that the City was in some way involved and any suit would have been against the Concord Management Ltd and AUM. This my be a dead end.

I am so happy that I found this forum I just moved into my new apartment and I'm very upset to discover that there is a third rate party that is dealing with utility management. This is an apartment complex and not a condo.
Essentially they charge you a $50 fee if you don't have utilities turned on in your name in time EVEN if you have proof of setting it up to be done... What kind of business gets away with this? How are they getting A+ on BBB?
Clearly there are plenty of people that have an issue with them.... The sad part is my complex doesn't care and just wants me to pay the fee because they already paid it for me. I refuse to give money to a scam business just because they want it.
This is America and scam companies should not be allowed to exist. Definitely looking into class actions on this one. Its such a small $ amount but I am not in the practice of giving away my hard earned money to anyone who conducts bad business.

If you ever have any dealings with this utility billing firm whose HQ is located in the Chicago area you are going to get totally screwed.
Whether you are in a condo or more likely in an apartment complex thisbottom feeding firm will rip you off, not only for bogus 'late fees' and unjustified fees but also they just simply 'make up' bills.
I know all about them, when I had a condo they were our utility billing firm and they were such a bunch of theives that I set up both a message board aumsucks.freeforums.net/ and a blog site aumsucks.blogspot.com/.
If you are thinking of owning or renting it would be a good idea to check and see if your management firm or HOA uses them, if so then DO NOT buy or rent there.

We moved into these apartments about 3 years ago. The water bill comes from AUM. For a one bedroom with 2 people, the bill is usually around 75$ a month. If your are 1 person in a 1 bedroom, its around 40$.
We have talked to alot of people, and they dont pay that much for thier house water. AUM is a freekin rip off, but what can one person do? We live at Washington Gardens in Carneige Pa.
The bill is way to high!!!!!!
AUM sucks.........

I'm a single male and I take showers nearly every day (some days I'm not leaving the apartment and I like to be lazy, sue me)
I don't use that much water, yet my water bill is abnormally high. Not as high as your guys' bills sound to be though.
Additionally I rarely get my paperless bills via email, when I do get them, they're always incredibly late. Then I get charged a late fee. 16 freaking dollars, thats half my bill right there. On top of that I have to pay 7.50 just to pay them.
This is ridiculous

I've lived in an apartment complex for a little over 8 months now and I still cannot figure out this AUM bill. Every time I call about the extra charges, nobody answers. I always just have to end up paying the bill. My building goes through AUM for sewer, trash, and water. My bill for this month was as follows:
Sewer: $17.98 (seems a bit high) Trash: $11.07 (again, seems way higher than I used to pay at another complex) Water: $7.13 (normal) Fixed Water 1: $3.96 AUM Admin charge: $2.03
So... I CANNOT figure out what this 'Fixed water 1' charge is. It varies every month anywhere from 4-6 dollars. It seems like they just pick a number and add it on to the bill to squeeze a little extra money out of people. I know it's not a ton of money, but $4 here and $6 there adds up every month, especially when you're charging 220 people that extra little fee. It's a nice pay bump for them while we sit back and are expected not to notice.
Also, what is this ADMIN charge?! And why can I never figure out how to pay my bill without being charged a 'bill pay' fee??! What the hell is this company??!!

they are doing this scam in every city and state! they say they manage 4800 units..multiply this scam out into the thousands of tenants and it’s organized crime and racketeering! where is Pan Zechman? We need the people to take this operation down!
